Cassini to Visit Saturn's Moon Rhea

Artist's concept of Cassini flyby of Rhea

Cassini to Visit Saturn's Moon Rhea
November 18, 2005

In the outpost of the Saturn system the moon Rhea waits for the Cassini spacecraft. On Saturday, Nov. 26, the spacecraft will come within 500 kilometers (310 miles) of its surface. Rhea's cratered surface looks in some ways similar to our own Moon, or the planet Mercury. But make no mistake -- Rhea's icy exterior would quickly melt if this moon were brought as close to the Sun as Mercury.
